Confirm the wash before reducing the clothes

Check where and when laundry can happen. An accommodation listing that mentions facilities may still require booking, payment or a particular schedule. Ask about the details that affect your plan. If you intend to use a local service, look at current opening times and turnaround before depending on it.

Do not assume a bathroom sink is an equivalent fallback for every garment. Read the labels and consider the space available for drying. A piece that needs special handling at home does not become easier simply because it is in a suitcase. Choose travel clothes with care needs you can realistically meet on the trip.

Put the wash into the middle of the itinerary

Choose a point that leaves time for clothes to dry and still be used again. Washing on the final evening may save little and create a damp packing problem the next morning. Avoid placing the task on the busiest day merely because it divides the trip neatly in half.

Pack one workable outfit to wear while other pieces are being cleaned. Keep the items needed immediately afterwards separate from anything that might take longer. A lightweight top and a thick waistband do not necessarily become ready at the same time. Check complete garments before putting them back into the bag.

Reduce where the plan is dependable

You may be able to pack fewer everyday tops while keeping a separate outfit for a specific event. Do not cut every category equally. Underlayers, socks and other personal items depend on comfort, activity and the cleaning arrangement, not just the number of calendar days.

Keep worn clothes separate from ready-to-wear pieces without sealing damp items away indefinitely. Follow product and accommodation rules if using detergent or equipment. Avoid carrying an unlabelled cleaning liquid that you cannot identify or transport appropriately. If flying, check the carrier and airport requirements for anything in your hand luggage.

Have a modest fallback

A facility can be unavailable or a schedule can change. Leave enough flexibility that one missed wash does not make the trip uncomfortable. That may mean one extra top rather than doubling the entire wardrobe. Choose a backup according to the consequences of the delay.

At the end of the trip, separate anything still needing care before unpacking it into the wardrobe. The lighter packing plan should not leave an invisible laundry task among clean clothes. Note whether the washing arrangement actually helped. If it took more time than it saved, a slightly fuller bag may be the better choice next time.
